Nearly three months after the Brexit vote, we are still in a period of ‘phoney war’ before the decision is activated. It is fascinating to hear the things people are saying, ranging from predictions of ‘blue skies and all being well’ to gloomy expectations of ‘plague and pestilence etc’.

However you voted, Christians can be reassured that our real anchor is JESUS, rather than politicians, the EU, parliament or public opinion. We depend on Him (John 10.28, Romans 8.1-2 etc) in ways that are deeper, longer lasting and more far-reaching than any of the issues debated in recent months.

So let’s keep the referendum in perspective. Our witness is strongest when we point to Jesus and 'trust in the Lord, rather than princes' (Ps 118.9).
